Goats Travel Basketball offers more basketball than any other competitive travel program in the area. Joe Jackson, who established the program back in 1996, is a former Villanova basketball player as well as a standout at Ridgewood High School. With over 20 years experience teaching children of all ages, Joe prides himself in providing a program that will bring your child’s game to the next level.

History of Silverbacks Basketball

Originally Goats Basketball and now Silverbacks Basketball was founded in 1997 by basketball players for basketball players, with the mission of providing a player-focused experience. From the very beginning, our vision was clear: to build a program that was driven by the love of the game and led by those who truly understood it—players, not parents or volunteers.  We started small in a church gym in Ridgewood, NJ, but our commitment to the sport and the development of young athletes quickly made an impact. Over the years, Silverbacks Basketball has grown into one of the most respected basketball programs in the region, offering competitive opportunities for boys from 1st grade through high school.  We offer seasonal sessions: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Players must try out for each season, ensuring that every team is made up of dedicated, hardworking athletes who are ready to take their skills to the next level. Our program caters to players of all levels, from beginners to elite-level athletes. Our elite teams compete in top-tier tournaments, facing off against some of the best competition available, while our beginner teams focus on building fundamental skills and developing a love for the game. No matter where players start, the Silverbacks philosophy is consistent: to promote growth, teamwork, and a passion for basketball in a positive, competitive environment. As we continue to grow, we remain true to the values that have guided us from the start—creating a space where players can develop their skills, build lifelong friendships, and push themselves to achieve their full potential both on and off the court.
